Apex Legends Season 12 Trailer: Could Kuben Blisk Join The Games?

I’ve been a fan of Apex Legends since the early days, and one thing that keeps pulling me back is the lore. Even before you get to the Titanfall connections—which are basically a whole single-player campaign’s worth of background for the Apex Games—there are comics, coffee table books, and animated shorts that build the worlds and characters. I won’t go into all of it now, because there’s simply too much ground to cover. You could practically write a novel for each character at this point. So when a new trailer drops, I don’t just watch it for gameplay; I watch it for story clues. And the Season 12 trailer? Oh man, it gave me plenty to think about. Even now, writing this in 2026, I still find myself coming back to it.

A casual viewer might think the trailer is focusing on the new addition, Mad Maggie, and maybe giving us an insight into her abilities. Those seem less combat-oriented than I initially thought, but she looks cool nonetheless, and I’m happy for her to be the centre of attention for the time being. But the real main character of the Season 12 trailer was Octane—or more specifically, his dad.

Octane’s dad, Duardo Silva, has created a secret base on Olympus and shifted it through space—potentially to above Storm Point? But necessary map changes aside, Duardo is trying to wrest control of the Apex Games away from the Syndicate, or rather from Kuben Blisk, who is currently the games’ commissioner. Now there’s a name you might recognise. If you don’t, go and play Titanfall 2 right now. It’s like Apex Legends but better. Seriously. Bookmark this, come back to it later; it’s really not important compared to you playing the best first-person shooter ever made. Right. Played it? Good. Now you know who Kuben Blisk is and why Duardo Silva’s shady moves might have a big impact on the Apex Legends matches that you play.

You see, if Blisk is pushed out of his role in the lore, he’s going to want revenge. Nothing in Apex Legends happens without reason. Like when Revenant was shown to be an assassin in his launch trailer, the little girl whose parents he murdered grew up to be Loba. Mad Maggie is another example: a character who appeared in another Legend’s background trailer and later turned up in the games. Valk’s backpack was subtly shown off in the background of Rampart’s workshop. It always comes around, and no reference is accidental.

So what does this mean? It means that Kuben Blisk could be headed to the Apex Games to exact his revenge on Duardo Silva and potentially his son. And a character joining the games means they join our game, the one we play. You’ve probably added this up already, but we might be able to play as Blisk. The antagonist of Titanfall 2. Actual Blisk. Who practically destroyed BT in front of our eyes. I don’t know if I’ll be able to bring myself to play as him after all that, but I sure as hell will give it a go.

This brings us to his abilities. Will he summon a Titan to help as his Ultimate? As unbalanced as that sounds, Storm Point seems big enough. Or how about his Ultimate is a limited-ammo Smart Pistol that locks onto opponents? It still sounds pretty overpowered, but it’s not a Titan. Let’s speculate wildly, shall we?

Whatever his abilities turn out to be, I just hope Blisk makes an appearance. Apex seems to be intertwining the lore with gameplay more than it has since Season 5, and I’m completely here for it, especially if it brings more Titanfall characters into the fray. We’ve got Ash, we’ve got Viper’s daughter Valkyrie, and we might be getting Blisk: who next? All the other Apex Legends are dead. Jack Cooper? Surely not… but also, please?

The Season 12 trailer has done more to get me excited about the potential of Apex lore than anything in the past few seasons, even if it is based on a large sprinkle of speculation. But excitement is good; it’s what keeps the lights on in live-service games, and it made me hit the Season 12 launch hard. In the meantime, I’m going to play Titanfall 2 again. And in 2026, with the Apex Games having evolved in ways we couldn’t have predicted, I’m still holding out hope that the Blisk thread gets the payoff it deserves.
