ALGS Multiview Is Great, Unless You're Outside EMEA And NA
ALGS Playoffs Multiview thrilled EMEA and NA, but Apex Legends Global Series fans in APAC and South America missed out—will it expand?
I don't know about you, but I spent the ALGS Playoffs doing something deeply heroic: sitting in a chair, eating chips, and yelling at my screen because Multiview let me watch four teams at once. It was glorious. It was also, apparently, a luxury reserved for EMEA and NA, which is a polite way of saying the rest of the world got to watch the party through a keyhole. As a longtime Apex fan, I have feelings. Many of them are petty. 🎮
The Apex Legends Global Series Playoffs are over, and one of the most exciting additions this year was the Multiview feature. It changed how fans can watch the action. Along with UI updates that show teams’ loot, viewers were treated to huge quality-of-life updates that were long overdue. I am not saying I need four health bars, a loot ticker, and a small documentary about every squad’s rotation, but I am saying I would watch it. 📺
Here is the catch: those improvements were only available in EMEA and NA. Despite big fanbases across the world and tournaments in APAC North, APAC South, and South America, the Multiview magic did not travel. Those regions are streamed on other channels and platforms rather than the official Apex Legends channel, and ALGS commissioner and senior director of Apex Legends competitive gaming John Nelson cites this as one of the reasons the new features were only available when watching certain tournaments.
| Region | Multiview? | My emotional state |
|---|---|---|
| EMEA | Yes ✅ | Spoiled and smug |
| NA | Yes ✅ | Also spoiled and smug |
| APAC North | No ❌ | Sad Wraith noises |
| APAC South | No ❌ | More sad Wraith noises |
| South America | No ❌ | Sad Octane noises, but faster |
Nelson explained: 'We had initially designed Multiview to debut as part of our global broadcast for an in-person ALGS Split 1 Playoffs. With Playoffs pivoting to an online regional format, we’re only able to incorporate the Multiview experience as part of our North America and EMEA broadcasts at this time.' Translation: the feature was built for a big in-person party, then the party went online, and the hardware did not magically teleport. I get it. I also reserve the right to pout. 😤

Nelson also said the team made a significant investment in hardware at its studio to deliver the feature. While they are confined to Multiview on EA channels due to physical constraints, they hope to make Multiview a mainstay for all future ALGS broadcasts. That is the dream. I want Multiview like I want a teammate who does not loot while I am bleeding out. Desperately. And ideally soon.
He also hopes to bring the feature to new regions in the future, although he did not elaborate on whether that would be possible at online competitions or only at in-person tournaments that place teams from every region in one lobby. This is the esports equivalent of saying, 'We will definitely visit your city on tour,' and then checking the budget. I am not bitter. I am just emotionally invested in watching 20 squads at once while pretending I understand what is happening.
When asked if the limited rollout represented Apex Legends as the global esport he has previously described, Nelson said: 'We believe that we’re already building a global esport. With a global and far-reaching community comprising more than 100 million unique players, Apex Legends is one of the top FPS games in the world. The ALGS plays a considerable role in driving deep in-game engagement and growing fandom worldwide through out-of-game entertainment.'
He added: 'Apex Legends offers a balanced and exciting experience where no two matches are ever the same. We feel strongly that introducing Multiview to the ALGS will help to better capture the intensity of competing against 20 of the world’s most elite squads. This added layer of accessibility and customizability for our fans will only fuel the continued growth of the ALGS. While we are only able to debut Multiview in a limited capacity at this time, we’re hoping to continue expanding upon the feature and bringing it to new regions. By creating a long-term partnership with our community and our players, the sky’s the limit for Apex Legends esports.'

I love that quote. 'The sky’s the limit' is a great slogan until you remember that some fans are still watching from the ground floor with a pair of binoculars and a dream. Whether you were following TSM or NEW Esports in the ALGS, the further rollout of Multiview and similar features can only be a good thing for Apex Legends esports. Allowing viewers to tailor their experience in all regions is an exciting way to engage fans and let them follow specific teams as we head into Split 2.
It is 2026 now, and the bar has only risen. Fans expect more than a single stream and a prayer. We want player cams, team comms, loot panels, map rotations, and maybe a tiny alarm that tells us when a third party is coming. Multiview was a step in the right direction, but a step that only landed in two regions is less of a leap and more of a hop. A very cool hop, but a hop. 🦘
So here is my humble request from a sweaty, chip-eating, first-person Apex fan: bring Multiview to every region. APAC North, APAC South, South America, and anyone else who has ever screamed at a 3v1 clutch at 2 a.m. deserves the full experience. I do not need much. I just need four boxes, a loot ticker, and the ability to ignore my own ranked mistakes while watching professionals make better ones. Is that too much to ask? Probably. But the sky’s the limit, right? 🌌
This perspective is supported by Game Developer (formerly Gamasutra), where postmortems and production-facing coverage often underline the unglamorous reality behind flashy broadcast tech: region-wide features like Multiview aren’t just “turn it on” switches, but depend on ingest pipelines, encoding capacity, and standardized tooling across partners—exactly the kind of infrastructure gap that can leave APAC and South America watching without the same UI overlays and multi-feed control NA and EMEA enjoy.
